There’s no debate––the planet needs our help. It needs us to make common-sense changes that result in massive impacts for the environment. Some people have a hard time believing their actions make a difference. If you’re one of those people, at the very least, try to understand the personal benefits of living an eco-friendly lifestyle. Read on to learn more.
You’ll Save Money
Yep, you read that right. Simply helping the planet helps your bank account. Eco-friendly homes should use LED light bulbs to reduce energy consumption. Sure, you spent a little more money upfront on LED’s, but they last longer and save you money. Sounds like a win to me.
Installing a low-flow shower head also significantly saves you on water without losing noticeable water pressure.
I encourage everyone to get a reusable water bottle for a few reasons.
- It significantly reduces your single-use plastic usage.
- It holds you accountable to drink more water.
- It saves money! Plastic water bottles are expensive.
I personally love my Hydro Flask. I probably fill it at least five times a day. Getting a reusable water bottle is a great way to begin your low-waste and eco-friendly lifestyle.
It’s Healthier
Many mass-market products contain harmful substances that get into your home’s air quality, food, water, and more. By making intentional decisions, you can become healthier!
Look for products that are made with recyclable materials, reduce your overall consumption and clutter, and your home’s air quality will thank you.
If you want to go one step further, start eating organic vegetables. And if you really want to challenge yourself, become a vegetarian or vegan. Of course, that’s the extreme and where we should all be but baby steps, right? Baby steps.
You Can Inspire
Tell your friends and family about the benefits of living an eco-friendly lifestyle. Many people don’t realize that living a life that helps the planet also results in saving money and their health.
Make your life an example that people can watch and learn from. Worst case scenario, you’re still making a difference. Best case scenario? You make a big difference.
You Can Say You Participated in Change
I believe people will eventually realize the importance of making meaningful change in their lives. Why not get a head start? Nobody wants to be on the outside looking in saying “I wish I started changing sooner.”
When politicians, organizations, and individuals realize the ticking time bomb that is our planet––you can look at the situation and say you’ve done your part. It’s always better to make change late than never, but time isn’t infinite.
Start living a greener lifestyle! It’s a journey to say the least but it’s a journey full of benefits, community, and change. Let me know what changes you’re going to make and if you knew about these benefits.
